Chest Council of India (CCI) was started by philanthropist and Pulmonologist from Davangere, Karnataka Dr. NH Krishna and pulmonologist from Kasaragod, Kerala Dr. Narayana Pradeepa, along with some close friends, as a WhatsApp group in 2014.
The initiative rapidly expanded and currently consists of more than 10 groups. Entry to these groups is free and unrestricted, with the only condition being that posts should remain focused on academics and the betterment of the subject.
In 2017, CCI became a registered society and began accepting lifetime memberships. Today, it has members from across India, divided into six zones with designated state-level office bearers throughout the country.
The organization has also been successfully conducting its annual conference every year since 2017, bringing together professionals and experts from across the nation.
